Knitting for my Niece/Nephew in Swissland

When I found out in July that I would be getting my first Niece or Nephew (they don't want to know the sex until it is born) I got my knitting needles out straight away! I wanted to knit a pair of English and a pair of Swiss booties, but I didn't have enough time before my brother and his wife left for Switzerland, so I knitted the most important ones, the English booties!! :)

After searching the internet for a booties pattern with a cross on without any success, I decided I would knit a pair of white booties with a red St George's cross knitted over the finished booties. It didn't turn out too bad! :)

My first niece/nephew

There are so many cute things that I can knit for a baby!! I will add more niece/nephew knits as my brother receives them as I don't want him to see them on the internet before he receives them! :)

Here is my new niece Lydia in her booties that I knitted for her! - How cute does she look? :)

Knitting for camping trip...

For my August Bank Holiday camping trip this year, my mate John suggested we have a 'hat night'. I thought it was a great idea to bring a little fun to the trip, so decided to get my knitting needles out for some fun hat knitting. I made my way to hobbycraft with my vouchers that I got for my birthday the previous year and brought some bright coloured wool and also some grey wool as I wanted to knit myself a headband to hide the fluffy hair from where I wasn't taking my hair dryer or hair straighteners!

I ended up knitting a couple of hats, in the same bright colours, Ross wore one of them as he forgot to bring a hat. He even slept in it that night! :)

Here is Ross in my first hat.

Here I am in my second hat.

Here I am in my headband.

Kev's iPod Touch Sock

My friend Kev was asking me for ages if I could knit him something, he finally decided he wanted me to knit him a cover for his ipod touch, but he was very fussy about the design... it HAD to have a hole at the front so that he didn't have to take his ipod out of the sock to use it and he also wanted it to have flap that goes over the hole to protect the screen on the ipod. Oh, and it also had to be Arsenal red! (he didn't want much!! lol)

I searched high and low on the internet for a free ipod touch (or iphone as they are the same sort of size) pattern, but the only one I could find was a crochet pattern, I have a very limited knowledge of crocheting, I can just about do a basic straight crochet stitch and that is it! So I decided I would have a go at creating my own pattern, trying to write down each step as I went so that it could be adjusted if need be!

This is the sock before it was finished, I was waiting for Kev to decide which colour button he wanted on it

This is the photo Kev sent me of his ipod touch in his new knitted sock

Ok, so the sock could do with some adjustments so that the whole screen can be viewed, but Kev was happy with the sock and said he can access all the buttons he needs to, so not bad for a first attempt at creating my own pattern from scratch!

Another photo of the finished sock, the loop on the right slips over the button knitted on the back

The pattern is now available for download here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ipod-touch-sock

Samantha's Chapstick Holder :)

After seeing my little knitting creation for Marshall, Sam was quite interested in a knitted penis for herself (typical for her! lol) So, I showed her some designs on the internet for a chapstick holder version (which she LOVED) So I promised her I would knit her one, as Marshall's didn't take that long to do.

It didn't take that long at all to knit Sam's 'chapstick holder', after Malika had stopped trying to grab the knitting needles as I was trying to knit! I think as I didn't need to stuff the 'shaft' it didn't take half the time of Marshall's version.

She did seem very chuffed with it, but after informing me that she did have a chapstick to put in her holder when I first suggested it, she later found out that she actually didn't have one that fitted in the holder, so will have to purchase one!

I have added some pictures of my chapstick in Samantha's chapstick holder.

Paul's Hat

I knitted a thick wooley hat for my Brother Paul who lives in Switzerland to help keep him warm in the mountains :)

I wasn't aware that my brother Adam and his fiance Hayley had also got Paul a hat for Christmas! One of those super warm ones with the flaps that cover his ears, so not sure that he will get much use out of mine.

A 'little' knit for Marshall

OVER 18's ONLY (lol)

Since I started knitting and taking my knitting round my friends' house, to do while I visited them (mostly the penguin jumper! lol). My friend Marshall has been bugging me to knit him a 'cock sock'.
This request seemed rather odd and I didn't really think that he would wear one if I did spend time knitting one and was a bit worried about how I would make it the right size. So, when I was trailing through free knitting patterns on the internet, I came across a pattern for a knitted penis, and thought it would make a perfect replacement for the desired 'cock sock'. There were variations of this design, including one that doubled-up as a chapstick holder. I didn't really think that Marsh, being a man would use a chapstick, so I stuffed the knitted penis with beanbag balls (I had plenty left over from when I knitted Sheldon the Turtle for James) and made it into a keyring. When I gave Marshall his knitted present last night, he seemed quite impressed with the replacement knit and immediately attached it to the rest of the keys in his pocket. :)

Another happy customer! :)

Penguin Christmas Jumper

I finally have the internet at home so I am able to upload the famous Penguin Christmas jumper! :)

The pattern was originally a plain v neck jumper pattern from Ravelry, Adam specifically requested for a white jumper with red stripes in the corners and a penguin with a Santa hat on the front. I think the penguin had a few too many fish pies myself, but its not bad for my first attempt at an XL sized jumper with a pattern on the front as I had only produced one other knitted item beforehand that had a pattern on. (The red cardigan with the white rabbit and duck on the front!)

Sheldon the Knitted Turtle :)

Ok, my youngest Brother James and his fiance Kelly already have a pet snake called Petey. They want a turtle for their next pet, but they are not allowed to get one until they move out of my parents house.

So, of course, I decided to knit them one! :) The turtle in the pattern was called Sheldon, so I kept with that name as its pretty cool.
I modified the original Sheldon slightly by stuffing him with beanbag balls rather than stuffed toy stuffing like the pattern suggested.

He seemed to like his turtle. I have uploaded a photo of him with it and a close up of Sheldon. I still need photos of Hayley and Paul in their knitted Christmas hats.
