Christmas knitting

Thought I'd add a little update on my Christmas knitting!

Ok, so far I have knitted a little something something for my Swiss brother (okay, he isn't Swiss, but he is currently living in Switzerland), something for James (all a bit hush hush) and I can't decide who to give the other one too.

Adam's festive jumper is coming along nicely, so far I have knitted the front and back of the XL jumper, I have started a sleeve and have knitted about 4 inches of it so far. Hopefully it will be finished for Christmas Day!! As I am having a few issues with the new flat and phone lines at the moment, I am guessing it will be a while before I have broadband, so I won't be distracted by Facebook in the evenings, giving me plenty of spare time to knit! :) I am thinking that I may need to give the jumper a wash before adding the penguin in a santa hat to it, as I had a slight mishap with a mug of tea when I was knitting the back of the jumper and even though my Mum got most of the stains out, I can still see a slight tea-coloured tinge to the bottom edge of the back of the jumper!

There is one other thing I was hoping to knit for someone before Christmas got here, I am not sure if I will have time now, but her birthday is in March, so maybe I can knit it for her Birthday instead ;)

I would add some pictures of the Christmas knits so far, but that would spoil the surprise for the people that I knitted them for! I will add photos of people with their knitted presents after Christmas (I'll hopefully have the internet at home then!)

Looking forward to the big move this weekend! - Finally getting a place all to myself with no annoying door-slamming house mates! Can't wait to finally get a lay in at the weekends again!! Woo woo!!

My Knitting Experience so far...

Well, everyone seems to be 'blogging' these days so I thought I'd have a pop at it myself!

I started knitting a good few months ago now (can't remember exactly when) and wanted to document my knitting experience as I have knitted quite a few items to date. I will try and find the photos for them all and upload them.

So far, I have knitted:
  • one fingerless glove (starting knitting this in the summer and figured I wouldn't need gloves for a good few months yet so I didn't knit a second glove to make the pair)
  • a red and white striped hat
  • one long stripey sock (same reason as above for only having one)
  • a couple of phone socks
  • a pink cable knit cardigan to fit a child aged 1
  • a blue cable knit cardigan to fit a child aged 3
  • a black shrug
  • pink baby booties
  • white baby booties
  • a red cardigan with a white rabbit and duck on the front to fit age 6-9 months
I also ordered some labels off the internet that say 'Hand Knitted - The House of Steph' which I sew into the garments that I knit :)

Here is the beautiful Macie Bradbury in the cardigan that eventually fitted her! :) - Always better to knit kiddie's clothes too big rather than too small ;)

I am currently knitting a Christmas present, but don't want to post the details yet as its a surprise! :)

My brother Adam has also asked me to knit him a tacky Christmas jumper with a penguin on the front, so I am currently trying to source a pattern for this (which is proving difficult!)

Jo and Darren brought me a lovely knitting journal for my birthday, Jo said it was a joke present, but I thought it was rather good! I can document each item I knit, including a photo and a sample of the wool used (or yarn as I believe the book called it). I will pick my knitting journal up this Saturday when I go to Jo's for her birthday outing to Go Ape (www.goape.co.uk) it looks like lots of fun, and I hope it doesn't rain!
